We're getting ready to leave Maryland in a couple days and the sadness of saying goodbye
to so many friends and family is starting to weigh quite heavy on my heart.
to so many friends and family is starting to weigh quite heavy on my heart.
It's only been our home for the past 2.5 years but So! Much! Has Happened Here!
Hazel was a mere 6 weeks young when we arrived...And this is the only home she's ever known.
Hazel has grown up in Maryland.
In 2.5 years we did a lot.
I feel like we've done more in that brief time
than the 5 years before it, ya know what I mean?
And so much time spent with Joe's side of the family. It really was a whirlwind. And such a treat!
Such wonderful memories made. Too many to write about here.
(and mostly because I don't want to start crying right now)
So I'm going to keep it light and post about missing Maryland summer peaches instead...
Ohhhhhhh, summer peaches. We will miss you terribly.
Let me tell you, you cannot get a delicious peach in Hawaii.
Much like the flipside of not being able to get a delicious papaya here in Maryland.
They are both fruits best served in the peak of the season, fresh from a farmer's market stand.
(or from your back yard, if you're so lucky)
So, we'll say "Aloha 'Oe" to you, until we meet again...

Oh my. Need tissues, watching the video. My heart is heavy. I have loved watching the girls grow up over the last couple of years and so enjoyed spending our tea times together. And birthdays, crazy holidays, book clubs, and beach vacations. You are a kindred spirit and no matter where you hang your hat in this world, I will always feel the same. What to do with our sadness, sister? I will leave you with a poem of course . . .
ReplyDeleteEternity
He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sun rise.
-William Blake
So I send my kisses to the wolf pack.
xoxo
Meg
I understand about parting ways with familiar, dear spaces.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope you do return to your friends and family, as often as you can... but... oh, my! Hawaii calls, and it's not hard to imagine all the friends and family that will be more than happy to come to your front door, there!
I do love peaches... but I'd trade them all for mangoes!
i know this must be hard.
ReplyDeletethinking of you!
@Natalie - Oh yes, Mangoes! My mom told me the other day that the season is in full swing, so I am looking forward to some juicy ones.
