We've been busy getting in the Christmas Spirit around here.
Joe had a wreath-making contest at his office,
so we collected Ironwood cones at Poipu beach and 28 gluesticks later...voila!
Our kitchen has been turned into a nut factory.
I used this recipe and made about 20 lbs. of Sugar and Spice Candied Nuts.
The house smelled heavenly.
Then I scooped them into Ziploc Snack Size bags
and stapled some pretty scrapbooking paper on top...and voila!
Holidays treats for 52 co-workers.
And let's not forget about Christmas Baking...
What is Christmas time without baking cookies?
An empty void, that's what.
We tried the chocolate route this time and added a little Peppermint Royal Icing too.
They turned out really well and I think I'll keep these on file for next year.
Next up, I'm looking at these suckers. (DO NOT make these. I did and they turned out terrible.
Their prettiness is what got me! But the taste...no good.
And the texture is weird. I think I'm going to throw the whole batch out. Blech.)

And I've already got this dough in the freezer,
ready to go for some Christmas Eve decorating fun with Aunty Marissa.
(had to prepare early, just in case I'm in labor, the show must go on!)
My first try at Jam/Marmalade making.
It was neat and it turned out pretty-looking and tasty.
Making citrus marmalade is cool because of all the natural pectin; it's a little bit like magic.
This recipe is good on buttered toast, but GREAT on a wedge of sharp cheddar or parmesan.
(I didn't have Meyer Lemons, just a whole lot of regular ones; it still turned out delicious)
Oh yah.
And I keep forgetting to tell you...
(because of all the Christmas stuff and the baby stuff that's filling my head these days)
We're moving again.
Joe got a great job offer in Honolulu so we're packing it up
a week or so after this baby is born and heading to the island of Oahu.
Aren't those leis pretty? They're from a couple of Joe's co-workers.
We've only been here a little over 4 months, but I will miss Kauai; especially it's Aloha Spirit.
