Yesterday we picked up our cars and all our stuff.
Just look...
at all that...
stuff.
I guess now would be the time to mention that our "new place" is a 520 square foot cottage.
Everyone that hears this fact becomes very alarmed
and then immediately tries to downplay their horror so as not to spook me.
It's very possible that I'm in denial, due to postpartum hormones,
but all I can think about our new cozy quarters are,
"I might actually have a fighting chance of keeping this place clean!"

you look beautiful! i'm not sure how big our one BR trailer was, but it was SMALL and oh so cozy. and made me want to get rid of all our ticky tacky extras. i loved it. but no matter how much i streamlined i never found a zen place... a friend moved in (she is a single mom with part time custody of one little boy ...and that is very different than three wild wooly boogers and a hearty spouse) BUT she made the place VERY zen!!! i will go next door and take photos of this tiny space for you....part of the appeal is that she is very all-natural...tons of plants, pottery and natural tones, which i am never able to achieve, but i love it when i see it and it makes a small space work better and feel larger...will get back to you, you brave woman.
ReplyDeletep.s. della slept in a closet and the master BR (which was a joke) was an alcove that we could shove a double futon into...nothing else, only a futon mattress that curved up the walls.
p.s.s. oddly, every child in the valley came to our place to play, esp. in the winter when there was twelve feet of snow on the ground and a tunnel leading up to our 'cave'. i think we were meant to live small, myself.
Oh, looks like a child's dream...everything out and close to get to. I see you already have art hanging on the walls! 520...hmmmmm...I guess I got the 20 mixed up with 20 less than 600 and was hopefully thinking it was 580, which I guess would have given you only another 8'x 7.5' or so more which would have been great. Well your very own first bedroom was a 3x4 closet in grandpa's apartment and you seemed happy. The good news is that kids at this age really don't care much about the size of the house. Love, Mom
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss this post?
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering how things are going.
Zounds! You have accomplished a lot!
My question is: do you have a lanai?
We had a 1200 square foot place, and there
were nine of us living there. I used our
covered front porch for cooking, dining,
art, and sewing... a temperate climate goes
a long way toward expanding your living space!
Enjoy this adventure... you look glowing, the girls look
giddy, and life is good. ((hugs))
@Natalie - Auwe! No lanai and the tiniest yard too. Oh well. You are right about a temperate climate expanding our living space...the nice thing is that when we get a bit stir crazy I can take the girls to the park for hours in the middle of January! Winter in Hawaii is so nice; warm & sunny with a breeze and my favorite...no bugs!
ReplyDeleteAuwe, indeed.
DeleteWell. Then. Thank God for that park!!
Hello lovely lady!! Congratulations on being there Yay!!! Well, I'm sure you will make the best of your space, and hooray for small house cleaning!!
